ASTON, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's Soccer dropped a 3-0 decision against the College of New Jersey on a damp Saturday afternoon in which they celebrated their senior class.
The first half featured chances on both sides of the field as the Knights outshot the Lions, 6-4. Neumann's best chance came in the 18
th minute when a loose ball inside the box was bicycled by
JP Phillip but rattled off the cross bar. In the 43
rd minute, a TCNJ corner kick turned into a mad scramble in the six-yard box. With bodies battling everywhere, a penalty kick was awarded to the Lions and they converted for the 1-0 lead.
Three minutes into the second half, TCNJ doubled their lead as a free kick from distance was headed in. From there, Neumann tried to muster a comeback but in the 76
th minute, the Lions closed the door on a giveaway from the Neumann defense.
Harry Beugre led the Knights with two shots, one on goal.
Darwin Berger also attempted two shots with neither troubling the goalkeeper.
Stas Maretski suffered the loss in goal, making three saves.
Neumann (5-3-1) will now prepare for their first ever MAC Commonwealth game as they visit York College of Pennsylvania, a week from today at 3:00 PM.
