Track & Field Competes in Atlantic East Conference Championship

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Neumann University Men's and Women's Track & Field teams tested themselves against the rest of the Atlantic East Conference in the 2026 Championship meet, hosted by Immaculata University.
 
Saturday featured a number or preliminary events to set qualifying for Sunday's final races. In the men's 100-meter race, Ethan John was the lone Neumann qualifier, finishing third with a time of 11.07 seconds. Nahshon Harrison-Fobbs and Jahmeen Ross finished back-to-back with times of 11.55 and 11.57.
 
John also qualified for the 200, with a time of 22.30, putting him second. Harrison-Fobbs qualified in sixth with a time of 23.06. Jamar Davis was just out of contention with a 23.38 while Ross earned a time of 24.03, and Ty Billingslea had a 24.56.
 
In the women's qualifiers, Gianna Manley-Perez picked up a time of 14.26 in the 100 and in the 200, Ciana Rosado earned a time of 28.30 seconds. Unfortunately, both efforts did not result in qualifying times.
 
On Sunday, John earned the bronze in the 100 with a time of 11.03. John stepped it up a couple of notches in his next race, winning to 200-meter championship with a time of 22.09 seconds. Harrison-Fobbs finished sixth at 23.39. The 4 x 100 meter relay featured a Knights crew of Harrison-Fobbs, John, Davis, and Ross, and they finished third with a time of 44.596           , just two-one thousandths out of second.
 
Bryan Castro had a solid showing in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:26.62, good enough for sixth. Next was the 400 and another bronze medal as Harrison-Fobbs finished in a time of 52.29. Davis was sixth at 52.69. Ross had a time of 57.58 and Billingslea had a time of 1:00.26. Castro again was strong with a fourth-place spot in the 800 with a time of 2:07.64. The combo of Davis, Harrison-Fobbs, John, and Castro grabbed a silver medal in the 4 x 400 with a time of 3:33.67, closing out the track events.
 
In the field events, Richard McClay participated in the shot put. He put up a distance of 7.63 meters. In the javelin, McClay went for a distance of 35.63 meters, finishing in seventh. Isaac Rose rounded out the top ten with a 26.78 while Omofoma Ekhator had a 20.52-meter toss.
 
On the women's side, Ingrid Suarez-Ramirez competed in the 1500-meter race and finished in a time of 6:05.03. Katie Baier and Val Castillo finished in times of 6:15.16 and 6:29.32. Rosado got an eighth-place effort in the 400 with a time of 1:03.85. In the 800, Baier and Suarez-Ramirez were the only Neumann competitors, finishing in times of 2:58.16 and 3:56.16.
Rosado earned her second top-10 of the day with a bronze medal performance in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:16.22. Castillo also competed in that race with a time of 1:21.27. Suarez-Ramirez raced again in the 5000 and earned a time of 23:56.14. The team of Castillo, Alli Siravo, Rosado, and Baier nabbed a fifth-place finish in the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 4:53.79.
 
Switching to the field events, Siravo finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 10.11 meters. Sydney Wilson had a distance of 8.35 and Savanah Kirk had an 8.19. Siravo had a toss of 25.06 meters in the discus throw, placing her in seventh while Wilson was 10th with a 22.85. Kirk rounded out the Knights' participation with a throw of 13.86 meters.
 
In the javelin, Kyleigh Joniec placed fourth at 30.92 meters. Wilson was 10th at 21.40 while Kirk and Siravo had distances of 17.05 and 16.05. Siravo earned her third top 10 in the hammer throw with a 32.57-meter throw. Wilson had a 21.44 and Kirk had a 13.91.  
 
Neumann's athletes will try one last time to qualify for regional spot and improve their marks, this coming Friday at the Last Chance Meet hosted by West Chester University.
