Welcome to Meet the Captains, the Men's Ice Hockey Edition. Let's learn more about the 2025-26 captains: Tyler Kennedy, Dexton Mozell, Sonny DiNubile and Lucas Culhane.
Tyler Kennedy – Senior Defenseman from Prospect, Pa.
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: I started ice hockey when I was 10 years old. Before ice hockey, I played roller hockey and ball hockey since a young kid.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: Winning the U16 Tier 1 National Championship while playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite in 2019.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: It means a lot to me as it shows I am respected by my teammates and coaching staff.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: My Bachelors Degree is in Finance and my Masters Degree is in Forensic Accounting. I enjoy managing assets and helping people with financial data.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: My dream job would be to win the lottery and not have to work, however, I plan to start my career at BNY in Pittsburgh, PA as a Financial Analyst in their rotational program.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: This is pretty cliché, but just enjoy it as much as possible. Don't wish your time away because four years happens in a blink of an eye. You have your whole life to work - do well in school because eventually sports will come to an end, but enjoy college to the fullest.
Dexton Mozell – 5th year Forward from Penticton, British Columbia
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: From the time I could walk, I was put in skates. Growing up in Western Canada, hockey is a way of life for many boys and girls from a very young age. I feel very blessed to have been able to play my entire life.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: The best experiences and memories in my life came from my three years playing hockey in Drayton Valley, Alberta. We had an incredibly close group every season, and everyone fully bought into a common goal - winning for each other and for the town. The entire community supported us every single day, and that passion made the experience unforgettable
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: To me, it's an honor to represent Neumann and help continue the growth of this program every day. holding a standard and pushing each other to be better each day.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: I am pursuing a double major in Business Administration and Sport Management. My goal is to continue doing what I love - staying connected to the game of hockey in any way I can.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: Being involved with a high-level hockey organization. whether through coaching or management - this has always been something that deeply interests me.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: Enjoy every moment of your journey, it goes by faster than you think. The early morning workouts, the tough practices, the time spent together away from the rink. Every part of the adventure is what makes it so special.
Sonny DiNubile – Sophomore Defenseman from Philadelphia, Pa.
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: I have been playing since somewhere between 3-5 years old. I started on roller skates first.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: My best memory is quitting hockey 15s and 16s year and grinding my hardest to catch up and play 18u then after that I made the NAHL became a captain and won the NAHL leadership award because being a leader is a privilege.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: It means a lot to me because it pushes me to go the extra mile on the ice to set examples and push other players to their highest potential. I want to help my teammates grow to be better players every day off and on the ice. It's a privilege to be a captain, you get added pressure on to you and I love that.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: Criminal justice, I chose criminal justice because learning about the criminal system and crime has always been an interest to me
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: To go to law school, and follow in my sisters footsteps to becoming a lawyer
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: Take it all in because it goes by quick, put your head down and work everyday. Have confidence, you're at this level for a reason. Believe in yourself and work as hard as you can. Don't get frustrated or in your head
Lucas Culhane – Sophomore Forward from Belleville, Ontario
Q: How long have you been playing your sport?
A: I have been playing hockey since I was three years old.
Q: What is your best memory playing your sport before Neumann?
A: Winning in a game seven quadruple overtime.
Q: What does it mean to you to be named Captain?
A: It means a lot to me knowing I am trusted to help lead the team to get where we need to be.
Q: What is your major and why?
A: My major is Secondary Education as being a teacher is something I have always wanted to be.
Q: What is your dream job after graduating?
A: My dream job is to teach abroad.
Q: What is your advice to the student-athletes just starting their collegiate career?
A: Don't over think things, everything always works out just fine.
