4/26/2021 5:13:00 PM

LANCASTER, Pa. - The Atlantic East Conference announced the men's lacrosse weekly honors on Monday afternoon, as Neumann's Brett McLaughlin earned Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second time this season that the junior has earned the award.

McLaughlin had a huge day all over the field in last Wednesday's 12-4 victory over Marywood. The junior defender caused four turnovers and picked up seven ground balls on the defensive end of the field, while tallying two goals and an assist on the offensive side.

For the season, the defender now leads the Knights with 29 caused turnovers and is second on the team in ground balls with 40. McLaughlin also recently became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers, passing the previous record of 80 while now sitting at 85. The junior is also tied four fourth on the team in both goals (11) and points (15), despite primarily playing defense.

With Wednesday's win over Marywood, Neumann has placed itself in prime position for a first-round bye in the Atlantic East Conference playoffs. The Knights will await results across the conference this week, before receiving official word from the conference as to when and where the team will begin its 2021 playoff slate.
