The Mirenda Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development
The Mirenda “Center for Sport, Spirituality and Character Development” ® is a state-of-the-art facility that serves home to the university’s 24 NCAA teams. It opened in the fall of 2009.
The Mirenda Center houses the “Institute for Sport Spirituality and Character Development” ® and the Athletic Department. The 72,000-square-foot building includes a grand foyer with impressive exhibits that feature five themes that connect sports to the Franciscan tradition: play, respect, beauty, balance and reflection. The men’s and women’s basketball teams and the volleyball team play home games in the main gymnasium, which seats approximately 1,200 spectators. The Mirenda Center also has fully equipped weight and cardio rooms.
