Ripken Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Mariah Ripken, of the Neumann University softball team, was named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area softball team. The team is voted on by the 29 collegiate institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team, the athlete must be in her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or better.

Ripken started every game during the 46 game season. She had 48 hits and batted .378 with seven doubles, four triples and one homerun. The senior scored 34 runs while knocking in 32.

The senior was also named to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) first team and sportsmanship team and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region First Team this season.
